Wendy Ortiz (she/her/they) is a Mexican artist from Anaheim, California who uses photography and printmaking to tell her familial, communal and personal stories. Her main area of interest is in black and white film photography, including creating gelatin silver and alternative processes prints and corresponding wooden frames that highlight the composition or the concept of the print. Her photography highlights Mexican culture including dance folklore, spiritual practices, landscapes, family life, and portraiture.
Wendy will be a student in the Master of Fine Arts program in Photography at the California State University, Long Beach for Fall 2025. She was a student in Photography and Woodworking & Manufacturing Technologies at Cerritos College and has a Bachelor's of Science in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. Her work was featured in the following group exhibitions: Student Art Exhibition at the Cerritos College Art Gallery in 2024; Exposure v.2, at Casa del Mexicano in Los Angeles, CA in 2020; and the group exhibition, Silver, at the Irvine Fine Arts Center in Irvine, CA in 2019. Wendy currently lives in North Long Beach, California, where she is building her art studio and woodshop and expanding her artistic disciplines in a shared home with her sister.
